Who Is Ahn?

Thank you for checking out this page. My name is Chris, or also known as Ahn. I have been doing public speaking for well over 20 years in various forms. From live presentations at conferences to web meetings held on Zoom, I’ve done it all. I have a Bachelors of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) degree, along with a 120 hour TESOL certificate. For years, I have helped my friends who do not speak English as their mother tongue to practice speaking in English in both business and personal settings. But more than having experience in helping others, I can put myself in the shoes of someone who is learning a language and wanting to improve in speaking it.

Many people are surprised to see me and learn that I have a Korean name. The truth is that I have been studying Korean language and culture for almost 20 years. Over time, I have dealt with people who tried to weaken my confidence in my ability to speak Korean and be understood by people in Korea. I know what it is like to lack confidence in yourself and in your abilities. But overcoming obstacles, has been a great source of joy for me. In 2014, I went to Korea and found that I could speak to people and be understood. And during my last trip to Korea in 2019, I was able to do public speeches for up to 30 minutes at a time in Korean.

As you can see, I’m not just a person who has started a tutoring service on a whim. This has been my life for several years. I know that there is not a “one size fits all” tutoring course that can be used. I spent thousands of dollars (or millions of won) to figure this out. Now, I’m here to help others to do the same. If you are ready to take the next step and to improve in your verbal English, I’m the tutor for you.
